Summer Activity Days
Summer at Zinc
Tuesday 31st July to 28th August. 9.30am to 3pm.
Ages 5 to 11 years. £20 (including lunch).
The holidays are a brilliant time for kids, endless days playing and having fun. But for parents it's a bit trickier, keeping children happy and stimulated during their extended break from school can be tough. We're here to help!
Every Tuesday from the 31st July to the 28th August will be a fantastic day of fun and rewarding activities to keep your child entertained. From pottery, to fort building and animation to theatre, games and outside art there's something for everyone at Zinc this summer.
Booking is essential. The children will be fully supervised by our experienced team of DBS checked adults.
What happens on the day?
Each day follows a similar pattern to give a sense of continuity and familiarity, with a different focus each day to keep your children stimulated and entertained no matter whether they do one session or all five!
We start with ice-breaker and warm up games to build confidence and get to know everyone, before splitting into smaller groups to get involved in the day's activity. Groups are fluid and if your child has friends they wish to be with we will ensure they are together.
There are a number of breaks during the day for supervised free play and games. A buffet lunch is served to the group as a whole so that we can all share our stories of the day so far.
The day ends with a short reflection session on the day's activities and final wind down games before children are handed back to their named adult.
What's On and When
Tuesday 31st July
We will be opening our summer season with some outside creativity.
Come along and make some art inspired by and suitable for your garden or any outside space. Working together to create a collaborative piece to exhibit in our courtyard for all to see, as well as creating your own masterpiece to take home and display in your own space.
Tuesday 7th August
Today is a day for getting active and having fun. Join us for a day packed with team games, wacky races and creative building. Start with designing and making your own team headbands and banner, before getting stuck into the games and showing how loudly you can cheer your team on.
In the afternoon you and your team are challenged to build the biggest and most impressive cardboard box fort that you can. Think big and aim high!
Tuesday 14th August
Play in a Day
Spend a day with us at Zinc creating a fabulous piece of theatre.
Working together with our own professional actor you will spend the day , playing and creating together. Learn fun new drama games and techniques and make your own piece of theatre, to perform for friends and family at the end of the day. You will also get the opportunity during this busy day to design props and work on the technical side of theatre.
Tuesday 21st August
Get creative with clay on this day long pottery workshop. Guided by a specialist teacher children will make and decorate their own pots or models to bring home. We will be using air drying clay so no firing will be required, meaning the pots will be good to go when the children are.
Tuesday 28th August
Aardman Animations had better watch out. Stop motion animation is one of the simplest and most effective ways to create an impressive animation. Come and make your own film using everyday objects you didn't know had a life of their own. Make them a movie star in a morning!
In the afternoon we'll have our glow sticks and face paint at the ready to say goodbye to the summer sessions in style with a UV disco.
Holiday Cinema Kids Club
We're running our usual Holiday Cinema Club from 3-5pm following all the workshops. Drop the kids off to watch a film in our lovely theatre. Films range from the latest DVD releases to kids' classics.
