Students on our UAS Employability course had a very exciting day on October 17th with a visit from the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
As part of the Employability course the students are studying fire safety and ECFRS very kindly came in to help them with their course. The session started with a discussion group led by the three fire officers from the education team on fire safety in and outside of the home which was really interesting and informative.
Following a real fire drill for the whole building, including the staff and children from Truly Scrumptious nursery, the students were lucky enough to get a chance to get an up close look at a fire engine parked up in Zinc. Everyone had a good look inside the – and even tried on some of the uniform and kit the fire officers have to wear.
Many thanks to the fire officers at Essex County Fire and Rescue Service who came in with their fire engine to talk to us. We had a wonderful day and are now much more knowledgeable about fire safety and the role of the Fire Service.
